Colecovision & Adam Label Variation

The first Coleco games were released with a label displaying “ColecoVision Presents”, the game title, and a legal notice. The company later changed this format, with the introduction of the Adam computer, to include “For Colecovision & Adam”. Although twenty games had existed prior to the label change, only six had their labels changed to show both the Colecovision and Adam. Coleco must have had a substantial enough label inventory for games published before the Adam computer, to justify not reprinting them.

By default, all ColecoVision games came with an American English label with the warehouse address of Amsterdam, NY. For the Canadian market, the company included a French label in the box. This French label sticker could be attached to the cartridge. The first labels produced were in color, but were later changed to black and white. This change was made most likely to reduce printing costs. Some titles exist with the two types of labels, and on some games, the colors or the logo are different. This principle applies to all the games except BC II: Grog’s Revenge and The Dam Buster. Thanks to Jean-François from Collectorvision for his help.
