Coleco : Label

Colecovision / Colecovision & Adam

The first Coleco games were released with a label indicating “Coleco Vision presents”, the name of the game, and the legal notice.  The company decided to change this with the introduction of the Adam computer.  Starting then, the labels were showing the name of the game  “ For Coleco Vision & Adam” and the legal notice.

Although twenty games had existed at that time, only six had their labels changed to show both versions.  The company must have had a substantial enough label inventory for games, published before the Adam computer, to not reprint them.

American / Canadian

By default, all Coleco games come with an American English label with the warehouse address at Amsterdam, NY.  For the Canadian market, the company had included a French label in the box.  It was a sticker that could be placed on the cartridge.  The first labels had been in color, but they were changed to black and white after while.  This change is probably due to lower printing costs.

Some titles exist with the two types of labels, and, on some games, the colors or the logo are different.

This principle applies to all the games except BC II: Grog’s Revenge and The Dam Buster.
